Data collection methods for quantitative research
In the area of quantitative research, we most commonly use the following data collection methods:
CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing)
Phone interviews are used to reach both members of the public and company employees. We have our own phone studio with continual monitoring of interviewer performance, an automatic phone-number dialling system, and quota performance control.
CAPI (Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing)
This technique involves personal interviews with members of the public or company employees; interviewee answers to pre-programmed questions are recorded and stored on notebook computers. Our network of 300 specialized interviewers evenly covers the entire Czech Republic. CAPI interviewing has now completely replaced pen-and-paper interviewing at TNS AISA.
CASI (Computer Assisted Self-Interviewing)
This involves the individual respondent completion of programmed questionnaires without the presence of an interviewer. For quality-control reasons, self-interviewing is restricted to members of our managed respondent panel (AISA MAP), which is a set of many thousands of respondents who participate in research projects a few times a year. AISA MAP essentially differs from other respondent panels in that we personally visit every respondent before signing a contract to verify all basic personal and lifestyle data, thereby ensuring that all research participants genuinely fit the profile required for any given project.
CLT (Central Location Tests)
Personal interviews can also be conducted in person in research studios. We have our own studios in the centres of Prague and Brno, and we can hire studios in many other towns and cities.
CAWI (Computer Assisted Web Interviewing)
This methodology requires the individual completion of questionnaires placed on specially created web pages belonging to either TNS AISA or the client.
Mystery Shopping / Mystery Calls
Loosely scripted telephone and face-to-face interviews conducted by researchers posing as customers are used to help clients ensure that their employees are providing an appropriate standard of service.
